Story Sold, Books Not So Much – Baja Adventure Travels – NFL and Other Fantasías

I sold the story.

Fear and Loathing in La Baja sold to the regular bidder and the only place I submit my stories, the San Diego Reader. It should be a cover or a feature story in the near future. There are only 10 weeks left to 2020. It should be one of those 10 weeks. Besides that, the other 5 covers are already done. There is almost no work for me until the end of the year. Perhaps a couple more photoshoots. And make my own work by writing articles.

The story sold for more than what I have made from both my books. It took me three days to write the story (and the two days that I had fun experiencing the trip and I guess more). The point is, I make way more money just selling my articles to the ones that always buy my articles. I should write more like that. It’s easier. It’s faster. It makes money.

The book…

No money.

I haven’t even broken $200.

Took me almost half a year to complete and put it up on Amazon. I’ve tried advertising it. It has good reviews. But it’s a lottery ticket.

The fantasy of getting rich with the best seller about my paparazzi life is not going to become a reality. At least not any time soon.

Speaking of fantasy, the guys want the NFL fantasy review, pero que pinche weva.

I’m already thinking of a third book… maybe.

I have nothing to do for the rest of the year. I have some money saved up. I’m thinking of keep traveling to la Baja. Drive all the way to Los Cabos.

I need to get better at editing and shooting astro…

I got tired of whoring my book around. I got tired of having nothing else to do. I got tired of my crush ignoring me. I decided to take a long drive south of Ensenada to a place called “Puerto el Zeppelin.”

Here are the IG posts with more pictures:

That one was my favorite, but they were so many to choose from. It didn’t even get that many likes.

It was foggy as fuck on my way down there. It was misty as fuck through the night. My lens fogged up often and I didn’t really notice. Many shots were a disappointment.

I planned ahead and knew it was going to be a new moon and a dark night.

The fog cleared out near sunset and the Milky Way started being visible thru the blue hour. It was lovely. I need to get better at astrophotography. And by getting better, I mean I need better gear. A star tracker rotator (looking at MSM tracker). I should get a full sensor camera and more lenses, though my favorite lens is a crop sensor lens.

There was no one in the camp when I arrived. I set up camp solo, had some lobster dinner (for $17), and took a dip in the ocean. There was a seal hanging out on the beach and I saw it pokes its head towards me several times. When I came out of my swim, another truck arrived and parked next to my Donatella. It was four dudes. I never saw them clearly. They went to a nice rock with amazing views of the stars. They were also blasting shitty, but not horribly shitty music. I prefer quiet when in nature… or take my own guitar. I don’t understand the constant blasting of music. I love music. I’m blasting music right now. But it is not necessary to have it always with you.

I took a lot of astro pictures. Just walked around and looked for better angles. I drank a liter of Transpeninsular beer that I got on my way down there. And at around 11 pm, I went to bed.

I heard the group of guys coming back from the rock around midnight. They started setting up camp and started blasting music near my camp. It was annoying as fuck.

At least it wasn’t horrible music.

For a while, it was just basic ambient. Then it turned to what sounded like The 1975 (which I dislike…).

They blasted music until 3 a.m.

I woke up several times but for the most part, I slept okay. I need a more comfortable tent and bedding. My tent is way too small.

At 6 a.m. I was out of my tent. The morning mist turned into a heavy fog. I grabbed an iced coffee I bought at Oxxo, went to the nice rock where the dudes were hanging out, and had my coffee while taking pictures of nature. At around 8 a.m. the sun was already peering through the mountains. I wanted to go back home and edit. I left camp at around 9 a.m. and headed to Ensenada.

On my way back, the fog intensified. I’ve never driven in such heavy fog before. It was interesting. Bought some smoked fish at the smoked fish place and drove back to Tijuana.

It was a good trip.

It inspired me to do more trips.

Maybe that will be my next book.

I also want a drone because it would be great to drive all the Baja with a drone. The footage would be amazing. I’m sure I could sell the story and some of the footage.

Ahora si.

NFL de Fantasía. No mames. Son tres semanas. Que puta weva.

Empezando conmigo.

Tijuana Pimps vs Jaiba, Thunders, Roosters.

CDMX Ocelopilli vs The Mongooses, Don Bacardi, Guarren Luna.

That’s the blog!

Please support me by buying either book on Amazon!!!

Here’s a link to my author profile. You can find both books there.

Also, follow me on my social media. Most prominently and the one I care about, my Instagram over at instagram.com/matingas_photography for my daily shenanigans and more.

I should edit pictures of Jessica Simpson and post them on my Instagram for book purposes. But honestly, it doesn’t help much. I have no idea how to sell more books. I just know it’s pretty good. So you should buy both of them.
