I rarely write my blog at night. It’s usually on Monday mornings with my second cup of coffee after reading emails and social media notifications. I’ve been busy this week, and it’s only Tuesday.
I wasn’t that busy last week. But today I was (still am, hence writing at night). And yesterday I was busy.
Monday morning routine got interrupted by a TikTok message that read: “Can you do a tour today?”
It was before 10 a.m. I was feeling shitty on Sunday, and I still felt a bit sick. But I could be ready for a tour later in the day.
It wasn’t later in the day.
It was an hour after the first message. I was already at the border looking for my clients, Brandy and Michelle, who requested something that had never been requested before. To go shopping at Dax. Dax is like a CVS or Target. Strange request, but I should say yes to more things. They also wanted to have lunch at Lorenza, a restaurant I had never been to and one of the most expensive in the city. I accepted.
Follow Tijuana Adventure to see how the tour went.
Doing that video review took a couple of hours of my day. Is not that easy to do videos. I was busy today… before the video…
I went out for a business meeting. How adult of me.
And it turned out fruitful. If things go smoothly, a new hotel in downtown Tijuana will be featuring my photography. Clap clap clap to me. More businesses will come.
I’m getting popular, and it does turn into money.
After the tour, I was drinking a beer at Insurgente. A random dude was paying next to me and recognized me. He paid for my beer as well.
Thanks, Juan!
After the tour was over, the leftovers from Lorenza were in my messenger bag. They spilled all over the bag that contained a battery bank. I think it broke it.
I made money from the tour. Ruined a battery bank. Ended up virtually even. Fuck.
It was still a wonderful time with Brandy and Michelle. Short tour. Ate great food. Showed them around the city. Got paid. Then I went out to drink.
I should be getting paid again in a couple of days. The first paycheck from the new job. It already feels like I’ve been doing it way more than a month… but it’s only been a month.
More paychecks coming. And more money from tours and other sources. And perhaps finally… all the shit that I always say I’m going to do and buy… will finally happen.
Bass amp. Photography gear. New iPhone. New drone. New life 2026. A popular life. I have to be careful.
My Halloween plans were thwarted. I was going to be a door labeled 512, and my girlfriend was going to be Selena. She doesn’t want to do that anymore and chose to be a cute Beanie Baby bear instead.
I like her idea… but now we don’t have a couple’s costume. And it leaves me solo.
I could do a bear. But she already has all the bear necessities and more.
I could be a roll of toilet paper so she could be the Charmin bear… but she’s already working on being a Beanie Baby bear…
I have to do my alternative idea and see if it works. I’m going to be a flash that flashes. Explanation? Not easy.
A camera flash while wearing a trenchcoat, occasionally opening the trenchcoat to flash while flashing with the camera flash.
I could also wear a The Flash outfit underneath so I could be a flash that flashes Flash.
My costumes are always so fucking dumb and complicated that people don’t get it. And here I go again. Last year, I was Remy from Street Fighter 3rd Strike… The year before, I was the Scream guy (that was easy). But before that, I did Frank West twice. No one fucking knows who Frank West is.
And this year I’m going to attempt to be a flash that flashes a Flash.
Like in the 3rd grade when I attempted to be Raiden from Mortal Kombat II, though I was WAY too young to be playing that game, and no one in the fucking 3rd grade knew who Raiden from MK II was.
I’ve only won one Halloween costume contest. And it was because I was one of the only ones wearing a costume (it wasn’t Halloween proper). I was the cow.
I had the cow costume for years. That cow costume was popular. And I milked the fuck out of it. I got it in Sophomore year of college and wore it for almost a decade. I finally left it at a Tijuana Halloween party, almost all broken with cigarette holes and beyond.
Halloween 2025 is coming soon.

I have a lot of social media work to do tomorrow. I have to cross the border on Thursday to take pictures and videos and do more social media work, and collect my first check.
And Friday is Halloween. And I have a tour on November 1st. And then I’ll have another gigantic collection of pictures of Tijuana during Halloween to cull and edit.
I still need to make the costume.
I have a lot of work this week.
Compared to last week…
I didn’t do much last week. I was going to cross the border on Sunday. We were ready to go (my girlfriend and I). And then I felt sick.
Almost like passing out. My blood pressure dropped…? That’s how it felt. Or at least that’s how they describe it. I’m not sure. I’ve never had that feeling before.
But I felt dizzy like I was going to pass out. It was a hot day, and I didn’t want to risk it.
I stayed home.
Saturday, I woke up at my girlfriend’s place. Then I went back home to deliver a couple of shirts. That was about it…
I didn’t do much on Friday except for a social media video. Then I went to hang out at my girlfriend’s place for the night.
I didn’t do much on Thursday but walk far to sell a single book. I have around 6 left. But the one I sold was to the director of literature at the Tijuana museum. So that might translate into something interesting. Perhaps more work and more money. That same Thursday, I drank and watched Thursday Night Football at Ramuri. I also got their burger and did a video review. It did alright.
I didn’t do much on Wednesdays. I did more social media videos for the job. And my brother delivered the shirts. I announce the shirts. I don’t have that many left. They sold well. I already recovered the investment. Everything after that is profit. And that profit goes straight into… more beers.
I didn’t do much on Tuesday except organize social media posts, and I made my girlfriend breakfast. I woke up early. I made her my signature egg and bacon bagel sandwich.
I didn’t do much on Monday. I wrote in this blog. I did more social media videos.
I didn’t have a tour.
I didn’t make much money that week, though it did feel like I did a lot.
This week also feels like I have a lot… but not that much money. My social media needs to pay me more. I spend too much time on it.
It’s getting there…

Uhh… this blog needs a picture and then it’s done.
This is one of my favorite pictures I’ve done for the new job. There are a lot of good ones. There will be better ones. And because this blog is running out of memory… this is not the high-definition one. I don’t even like guacamole.
Speaking of the blog running out of memory…
This year might be the last time I use WordPress as my main blog website. I might migrate it all to Substack and Patreon. And this webpage will turn more into a Matingas store. A static website featuring everything Matingas.
Will see what happens.
Thanks for reading.
Oh.
My NFL Fantasy team won. I sit comfortably in 6th place with a team I have faith in.
I lost the parlay. 5 out of 8. Not bad. I’m going to keep trying, though I know the odds are against me. I have fun.
